Welcome to Food Not Bombs for Seattle, WA

Hello,

My name is Kenneth Parker, and I live in Seattle, Washington.

I was partly involved with a version of Food Not Bombs in San Francisco, before they were suppressed by police action, sometime in 2001 or 2002. (Why, oh why does distributing sandwiches to homeless people equate with disorderly conduct? But that was then, this is now).

What prompted me to start up a lower Capitol Hill chapter, here in Seattle was the opening of Melrose Market close to where I live.

What distresses me most are Republican talking points about how more money can't be given to the states for food programs, because of the Deficit. However, it's perfectly all right to give huge tax cuts to the top 1 percent of the food chain (millionaires and billionaires), even though this will add trillions to our Deficit.

If I find others in Seattle that are already providing Food Not Bombs services, I will, of course want to work closely with them and combine my energies with theirs. A problem I've encountered so far is old, stale web sites, and lack of contact information. (Click on my Profile to contact me. I'm not afraid).

Thank you and best regards,

Kenneth W. Parker, Seattle, Washington
